Redskins go defense with Ohio State’s Chase Young in new mock draft

The Washington Redskins have been all over the place as far as mock drafts go heading into the 2020 season.

As can be expected given the timing, yet the Trent Williams holdout also makes things tough. Right now, any number of needs could pop up for the Redskins, especially at left tackle.

The Redskins pick second in a new mock from Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, who has them going with Ohio State edge presence Chase Young:

Young, who helped Buckeyes fans forget about Nick Bosa last season, has exceptional first-step quickness and power in his game. He can line up on either the right or left side and has experience both as a hand-down and stand-up rusher. His versatility and athleticism are eye-opening enough to make him the No. 2 overall player on my draft board.

It’s always hard to complain about adding more edge rushers in today’s NFL, especially when it means pairing a top-two product with Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat to complement an elite defensive line.

This sort of value pick near the top of the draft would especially make sense if, should the Redskins have to trade Williams, they get a starting-caliber player back in return or trust Geron Christian to start there long-term.
