Redskins’ Fabian Moreau dealing with sprained ankle

The injury bug is at it again for the Washington Redskins, this time with corner Fabian Moreau suffering a sprained ankle.

ESPN’s John Keim dropped the news Sunday: “Fabian Moreau sprained his ankle. Not sure of severity.”

Sprained ankles are tricky, though this will presumably throw Moreau on the shelf for the remainder of the preseason at least. It is unlikely the team would risk him in the third preseason game Thursday and starters didn’t figure to get much run in the finale, either.

Moreau remains a promising cog of the Redskins future in the defensive secondary heading into his third season, as he’ll help form a rotation that up top features Josh Norman and Quinton Dunbar.

That said, Moreau’s injury does leave some room for others to get some important snaps. This includes Greg Stroman, who put on a show in the team’s second preseason game and continues to look like a gem the Redskins can lean on in varying ways.

For now, like the Colt McCoy situation, the Redskins aren’t offering more on Moreau.
