Redskins don’t plan to change how offensive plays get called

For those wondering, Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden doesn’t see a reason to take control of the play-calling or give it to one person outright.

Asked if he’s considered giving the play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, Gruden said the calls go through a variety of people, then he sends it to the quarterback, per JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

Or in simpler terms, this way:

It’s not hard to see why some might ask if something will change, though. The Redskins have scored just 18 points over their last two games while shuffling the names under center.

Gruden’s quarterbacks have thrown as many touchdowns as interceptions in the process and the running game is averaging less than three yards per carry, to top it all off.

While Gruden isn’t the only coach facing this question right now, the process itself makes it a little easier for him to avoid it for the time being.
