Redskins defense let up a Vikings franchise record to Kirk Cousins on Thursday

Chalk up Kirk Cousins as the big winner of his little rivalry with the Washington Redskins this time.

During the Redskins’ 19-9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night, Cousins put up 285 yards while completing 23 of 26 attempts.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted in the tweet above, that’s an all-time franchise record for the Vikings. Cousins wasn’t in the wrong on any of the incompletions, either.

And it wasn’t just a little dink and dunk attack all night, as Cousins was accurate all over the field and making big plays. The mind wanders to whether things would’ve played out differently if the cast of quarterbacks was switched.

Regardless, this speaks to the problem the Redskins defense faces right now. The corners are struggling in a bad way and the linebackers haven’t been much better. The defense allowed 434 total yards and let the Vikings have the ball for more than 36 minutes.
