Redskins could benefit if Giants lose Landon Collins

The Washington Redskins could get a big win if their NFC East rival New York Giants can’t find a way to retain Landon Collins.

Funnily enough, the Redskins also happen to have a need at safety after cutting ties with D.J. Swearinger.

The Giants were all over the media cycle Wednesday thanks to some developments with Collins:

I’m told that Giants S Landon Collins cleaned out his locker today at the team facility and said his goodbyes to teammates, coaches and trainers. It doesn’t seem like Collins expects to be a Giant for much longer, per sources.

This isn’t about the locker. 😂It’s about the insinuation that Giants informed Landon Collins that they didn’t want him. There’s been nothing either way.
No team has used the tag yet. Again, if Landon Collins would rather not be tagged, that’s his preference. I don’t blame him.

Giants S Landon Collins' locker remains full of stuff, as of this hour, and he has not been informed of any decision on whether the team plans to use the "franchise tag" on him or not, according to a source. … So nothing new and nothing to see here.

Collins is a free agent and if a long-term extension or tag doesn’t come down, he’s going to be one of the better players on the open market.

In his mid-20s and effective at one of the more important positions, Collins would be an obvious Redskins free-agent target. For all their problems, the Redskins could get a big win by keeping him in the NFC East.

Still, simply not having to play Collins twice a year is nice too, so Redskins fans have to like watching some NFC East drama that doesn’t involve them for once.
