Redskins coaches are noticing Dwayne Haskins’ improved footwork

Dwayne Haskins took a backseat to Adrian Peterson and Derrus Guice while his Washington Redskins secured a win over the Carolina Panthers.

When developing a rookie quarterback who wasn’t practicing as the first-team starter all offseason, an interim coach like Bill Callahan probably wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s also just what happens when two backs combined for more than 200 yards and three scores on the ground.

But that doesn’t mean Haskins didn’t show improvements in the process. His line of 13 completions on 25 attempts with 147 yards wasn’t great, but it appears some of the things he did with his feet caught the attention of coaches:

As a whole, it’s hard to complain when a team puts up some wins and the rookie makes strides in the process.

At some point, Haskins will find himself in a spot where he needs to carry the offense and not the other way around. Over time, perhaps these baby steps will help him be ready when the moment arises.
