Redskins CB Josh Norman expected to shadow Alshon Jeffery all over the field

In the midst of the Philadelphia Eagles’ battle with the Washington Redskins, will be some very intriguing one-on-one matchups that could help determine the outcome of the season opener. The main matchup to watch on Sunday should be the Redskins outspoken cornerback, Josh Norman, going up against Mr. Swagger himself, the Eagles Alshon Jeffery.

Earlier in the week, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson stated that he expects Washington cornerback Josh Norman to shadow Jeffery during Sunday’s game and the two men have had some interesting matchups before.

Last season during their Week 17 matchup, Jeffery caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown when he was covered by Norman per Pro Football Focus. In week 13, when Norman didn’t shadow Jeffery, he was held to three catches for 31 yards on five targets. Jeffery is the Eagles biggest playmaker and toughest matchup at times for opposing defenders.

In four games against Norman as an Eagles wide receiver, Jeffery has posted numbers of 13 catches for 137 yards and one touchdown in four contest, with the Birds winning all four ballgames.
