Redskins brought on outside consultants in effort to fix injury woes

The Washington Redskins have been the most injured team in the NFL for two years in a row and counting.

And counting because it doesn’t seem like the problem is close to going away. The Redskins are at least trying to fix the problem though by bringing on outsiders to look at their process, per Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

So after another injury plagued campaign, Redskins team president Bruce Allen brought in outside consultants who are experts in the field, and asked them to take a look at everything related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of injuries.

Allen said the Redskins wanted to leave the slate as blank as possible.

Anything is better than nothing at this point. The Redskins finished with 26 players on injured reserve in 2017. Another 28 followed last season.

The Redskins seem just as much at a loss as anyone else when it comes to the problem. Bad field, poor training or poor habits could be to blame.

It should be noted this didn’t stop the Redskins from grabbing Montez Sweat out of his first-round freefall due to a heart condition, nor did it stop them from adding Bryce Love.

Those moves suggest the Redskins are confident they can find a fix. That, or the outsiders don’t help and the latest draft strategy feeds into the problem again.
