Redskins bring Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie out of retirement

The Washington Redskins added to the cornerback depth chart Friday with 32-year-old Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Rodgers-Cromartie retired last season seven games into his tenure with the Oakland Raiders but popped up in speculation near free agency’s opening.

Washington had DRC in for a visit Friday and it didn’t take long for the two sides to agree on a pact.

With Oakland last year, DRC played 42.6 percent of his snaps out wide, with 44.9 percent from the slot, according to Pro Football Focus. The Redskins already have an interesting depth chart with Josh Norman, Fabian Moreau and Greg Stroman, not to mention Quinton Dubar and even Adonis Alexander.

Still, adding a veteran leader who has played with Landon Collins and can compete for a roster spot isn’t a bad thing in March.
