Redskins are top 5 in most snaps played by rookies

The Washington Redskins are about to get another bump in rookie snap counts thanks to Dwayne Haskins getting the nod as a starter over the weekend.

But as ESPN’s Field Yates noted in the tweet above, the team is already among the top five in this area.

Thank Terry McLaurin, mostly. He’s played more than 80 percent of the offense’s snaps in the middle of his No. 1 wideout breakout.

Meanwhile, first-round pick Montez Sweat has played on more than 60 percent of the team’s defensive snaps. And don’t forget Cole Holcomb, as injuries at linebacker have forced him into more than 60 percent, too.

If nothing else, this sort of number could mean the Redskins are getting some important developmental snaps for their younger players while building for the future.
