The Washington Redskins are reportedly receiving calls on potentially trading out of the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft that is set to begin on Thursdsay.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Washington has received calls from interested teams that are questioning what it would take to move up to the second spot in the draft, many of whom are likely eyeing either DE Chase Young, or QB Tua Tagovailoa.
While Rapoport noted that the Redskins are listening to these calls, don’t take it to mean that they are planning to trade the pick. They wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they refused to listen to any offers for the pick, but it’s unlikely that they will ever see the price that they require to actually move out of No. 2. For the Redskins to pass up on a player like Young, it would take multiple first-round picks, and a couple of early-round picks as well. Currently, there are only a few teams that can offer that type of haul, with the Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders being a couple of them.
While the deadline of the draft draws nearer, phones will continue to ring. The Redskins will definitely pick up, but that doesn’t mean that they have any intention of accepting a trade.
