Redskins are one of NFL’s most-injured teams going into Sunday

The Washington Redskins had 50-plus players on injured reserve last year, which was easily the most in the NFL.

Heading into Week 2 of the 2019 regular season, the Redskins have six players tagged as doubtful or out:

  • Jonathan Allen
  • Caleb Brantley
  • Derrius Guice
  • Colt McCoy
  • Fabian Moreau
  • Jordan Reed

That’s not counting one other important player:

  • Trent Williams

That makes for a tall task against a tough Dallas Cowboys team. Not only does the sheer number of missing players hurt depth, Allen is one of the defense’s best outright players, Reed is an elite mismatch weapon and Guice was supposed to serve as the workhorse back — never mind Williams’ impact on the line.

This won’t excuse a Redskins loss — but the injury bug doesn’t seem like it is any closer to leaving Washington.
