Redskins announce hiring of former QB Tim Rattay as new QB coach

It’s official — the Redskins have hired a new quarterbacks coach.

Tim Rattay, a longtime college coach at Louisiana Tech, as well as an 8-year QB in the NFL, has been hired to try and keep the Washington quarterback room above water this coming season.

In Rattay’s six seasons at Louisiana Tech, the team went 46-33, won two Conference USA West Division titles and was a perfect 5-0 in bowl games.

Rattay took an interview with Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders a year ago and is considered a rising name. He started his coaching career in 2011 a few years removed from retiring as an NFL player.

Rattay appeared in 40 games in his career with 18 starts and finished 432-of-714 passing for 4,853 yards with 31 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.

While on the roster in Tampa Bay, Rattay spent some time alongside Redskins coach Jay Gruden, who was at the time an offensive assistant for the Buccaneers.
