Redskins-49ers escape fines from Week 7 clash

Saturday, both the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers avoided fines during the usual rollout of fine announcements.

The two teams played in Week 7 and there were a few questionable hits that seemed like those on the delivering end might hear from the league about.

But according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, two of the most notable hits didn’t result in fines: “Solomon Thomas wasn’t fined after being flagged for roughing the passer against Case Keenum on Sunday. Also, no fine for Washington CB Jimmy Moreland, whose hit on Marquise Goodwin essentially sent the receiver out of the game.”

It’s interesting that Thomas didn’t receive a fine despite being flagged for rouging Case Keenum. And the fact Jimmy Moreland’s hit on Marquise Goodwin removed the 49ers wideout from the game figured to draw the attention of the league.

In that Week 7 game, the Redskins went down 9-0 in a slopfest in bad weather where Keenum only attempted nine passes. They’ve since went on to a Thursday game, taking a 19-9 loss to Minnesota.
