Reds fan who has 'Liverpool Champions 19' tattoo speaks out after Premier League loss to Manchester City

Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League were always going to be tight - but there was still hope after the Reds impressive season.

Last Sunday, Liverpool needed to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers and hope Manchester City drop points against Brighton.

And one man who was convinced the Reds were going to prove victorious was Australian Radio DJ, Liam Stapleton.

Prior to their last match of the season, the Triple J host jumped the gun and got 'Liverpool F.C. Champions 19' inked on his right bicep.

Sharing a picture of his new tattoo, Liam wrote: "Quietly confident", while posing with his fingers crossed.

But despite Jurgen Klopp's side beating Wolves 2-0 at Anfield, Manchester City's 4-1 win over Brighton saw them finish one point ahead of Liverpool and crowned Premier League champions for a second consecutive season.

And after hearing the news, Liam posted a follow-up picture wearing Liverpool's home shirt and a close-up of his tattoo with the words 'Runners Up' replacing 'Champions'.

He captioned the image: "Yeaaaah so that’s why preemptive tatty’s are ill advised."

But Liam needn't book a laser removal appointment just yet, as Liverpool prepare for the Champions League final on June 1.

The Redmen will travel to Madrid and take on Tottenham Hotspur aiming to finish the season as champions of Europe.
