A double from Vince Lia has only given Adelaide United a 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
Melbourne Victory came to Adelaide seeking their first points of the season, and the visitors started strongly, dominating early possession.
They took the lead in the 13th minute when Leroy George swung a free-kick in from the right, and the Reds gave Besart Berisha too much room to put a perfectly-timed header past Paul Izzo into the net for his first goal of the season.
Adelaide equalised halfway through the first period, when an attack down the right led to Johan Absalonsen pushing the ball out to Vince Lia, who buried the ball in the top right corner with a brilliant left-foot effort.
It was still 1-1 with 28 minutes to go when Lia bagged another screamer, rifling a shot in with his right foot past Lawrence Thomas into the Victory net after a cross in from Absalonsen.
Adelaide looked likely to get the points, but they were caught on the break by Melbourne Victory in the 82nd minute, and after the Reds defence blocked a shot from Berisha, the ball fell to substitute Mitchell Austin, who steered the ball home for the equaliser.
