Redmayne Bentley shuts second Merseyside office in two years as city centre site closes

A wealth management firm has shut its second Merseyside office in the space of two years.

Redmayne Bentley has decided to close its Liverpool city centre site following a strategic review of the business - and the retirement of senior officials.

The Leeds-based firm said the decision to shut the Cotton Exchange-based office was "not taken lightly".

There has been a single job loss as a result of the decision.

A statement from Stuart Davis, joint chief executive at Redmayne Bentley, said: “Following a strategic review and the retirement of individuals in the Liverpool office we have taken the decision to amalgamate our North West offices, as such our Liverpool office closed on July 31.

"We continue to provide a full investment management service to clients of the office from our Manchester office and clients have been contacted with details of their new investment manager or stockbroker.

"We haven’t taken this decision lightly, but as we grow as a business, we want to do so in the most efficient and sustainable way we can for the long-term benefit of our clients.

"We thank the retiring head of office, Derek Gawne for his contribution over the years."

In July 2018, Redmayne announced it was merging the Southport and Liverpool branches at the Cotton Exchange office in a move hoped to "provide a better, more extensive service" to Merseyside.

Last week, it was revealed that former Redmayne pair Paul and Glyn Edwards, who recently left company, had opened the first Liverpool site of fellow wealth management firm Raymond James in Oriel Chambers on Water Street.
