Redheads offered free entry into Showcase Cinemas to 'ensure they stay protected'

From tomorrow until Tuesday, many parts of Scotland will be placed under an amber warning for extreme heat. Temperatures - according to Met Office forecasting - are expected to sit just shy of 30C in many parts of the country including the borders and Glasgow.

Scots are being asked to take precautions to keep cool and avoid situations that could increase their risk of conditions like heat exhaustion where possible. The Government has also asked that people look out for family and friends who may be vulnerable during the excessive heat.

Justice Secretary Keith Brown said: “I would also urge people to look out for vulnerable family, friends and neighbours, as older people, those with underlying conditions and those living alone may struggle to keep cool and hydrated."

Another organisation has shown concern for a different vulnerable group, however, and they have stepped up to protect this group, reports Wales Online. Across the UK redheads will receive free entry into Showcase Cinemas while the heat warnings are in place.

Redheads can often be more vulnerable than most to the sun due to their fairer complexion, so the cinema has allowed them to cool off in their facilities while also catching a film. They have said that their cinemas feature a state-of-the-art air conditioning system.

Redheads cashing in on the offer will be able to watch Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, experience the roots of rock and roll in the big screen biopic Elvis, laugh out loud with Minions: The Rise of Gru, and much more.

Mark Barlow, UK general manager for Showcase Cinemas, said: “While the UK enjoys some much-needed sunny weather, we know how hard some people find the heat. That’s why to tackle the heatwave, we’re offering red heads free entry to our cinema screens this Monday and Tuesday, so they’ll be able to enjoy some of the amazing films on offer in the comfort of our air-conditioned cinema screens and ensure they stay protected from the sun."

The free tickets for redheads are available from the box office of their local Showcase Cinema on Monday, July 18, and Tuesday, July 19, only, for films showing on those days. The offer is limited to one free ticket per person and can’t be used in conjunction with any other offer.
