'Redemption arc again!' - Arsenal fans go crazy over what Granit Xhaka did against Chelsea

Granit Xhaka has provided the perfect response on his return to the Arsenal lineup.

The Switzerland international sat out Premier League games against Southampton and Everton as well as the Carabao Cup defeat against Manchester City through suspension after being sent-off in the 1-0 defeat against Burnley a couple of weeks ago.

Given his marching orders following a VAR check at the pitchside monitor, the initial yellow was upgraded to a red when it was spotted that Xhaka had grabbed Ashley Westwood by the neck.

But the midfielder's latest outing at the Emirates Stadium is one he won't forget in a hurry.

What is likely to happen in Arsenal's transfer window?

After Alexandre Lacazette had broken the deadlock from the penalty spot, the hosts were given a chance to double their lead shortly before the break when Bukayo Saka was fouled.

A free-kick was awarded in a dangerous position and the Frenchman looked favourite to take it.

However, up stepped Xhaka to strike the ball and his brilliant effort flew past Edouard Mendy in the Chelsea goal and into the back of the net to put Arsenal 2-0 up.

With the Gunners without a win in the Premier League since beating Manchester United at the beginning of last month, Lacazette and Xhaka have provided supporters with a reason to be optimistic about three points.

As expected, much of the response on social media has centred around some Arsenal fans praising Xhaka and predicting the goal is the beginning of his redemption.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@JalanArsenal said: "Xhaka’s redemption there. He has been excellent starting from the first minute. Leading with example, Mikel Arteta’s trusted general.
