Redditors Point Out Popular Married At First Sight Phrase They’re Sick Of Hearing This Season

There are a lot of bones to pick with this year’s season of Married At First Sight (MAFS). From the bullying to the social media spoilers and the unseen footage, it’s been buckwild. And now, it appears fans (and I) are sick of hearing this one phrase every week.

When one dates (and I can definitely back this up as someone who’s stuck in Australia’s dating arena), many folks state that they’re in search of their “ride or die”.

And it looks like that yearning for a “ride or die” has completely translated on screen via MAFS, with Bec Zacharia and Danny Hewitt using it, and Juliette Chae previously using the phrase when referring to her friendship with Gia Fleur.

However, MAFS fans have clocked that the phrase has been overused by this year’s participants, with one Redditor questioning the sudden popularity of the sentence.

“Honestly, why are they all obsessed with this phrase? Especially considering nobody has said it without crossing the person they’re supposedly ‘ride or die’ for,” u/BunnyDawg wrote in r/MAFS_AU.

If I hear “ride or die” one more time…

Shortly after making the post, u/BunnyDawg’s thread was flooded with similar complaints, with some also pointing out other buzz words such as Danny’s constant use of “Do you know what I mean?”.

“Same……. Same….. giving my eyeballs a proper workout with all the eye rolling happening here,” one user wrote.

“I am so sorry this show has become unwatchable for me. I turned it off halfway through last night’s episode. I am done,” another person penned.

“Fake loyalty. Fake machismo. Fake all around,” a third wrote.

Another person also noted that the phrase “blindsided” hadn’t been dropped as much in comparison to previous seasons, which is quite surprising considering the amount of blindsides we’ve seen.

As someone who’s been watching along this season, I 100 per cent agree with the overuse of “ride or die”, especially since I’m getting the vibe that nobody is anyone’s ride or die — maybe Stella and Filip, but that’s about it.

Makes me wonder what next year’s buzzword/phrase will be… perhaps fingerbang?
