Reddit down: Website crashes completely for thousands of users

Reddit users are experiencing issues with the social media site this morning with some people reporting the site was completely down.

The website has been experiencing issues since 6.02am (GMT) according to the website Down Detector.

More than 17,000 people had reported issues.

The site is reportedly down for maintenance work but Reddit's community was disappointed at being unable to post or comment on links on the site.

Reddit describes itself as "the front page of the internet".

The site's users can create forums and share content with each other while messaging others on the site.

Hundreds of people took to Twitter early today to share there exasperation alongside memes about Reddit being down.
