Reddit went down for users around the world a day after Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram were hit by a global outage.
Tens of thousands of people in the UK, the US, Canada and other countries complained of being unable to view posts in a disruption which appeared to last about half an hour.
As posts on Reddit's homepage failed to load, the website displayed an error messages stating: "Something went wrong. Just don't panic."
Another message read: "Sorry, we couldn't load posts for this page."
Posts were visible again about 30 minutes users began reporting problems, and Reddit said a short time later: "A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results."
Earlier, a status update on Reddit's website said the tech giant was dealing with "elevated error rates" and it was working on a fix.
The alert added: "We are currently investigating this issue."
Reddit users began reporting problems shortly after 2am UK time on Wednesday, about 24 hours after the seven-hour outage of Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp came to an end.
While most people were asleep in the UK, more than 600 users in Britain reported a service outage on the Downdetector website.
The number of reports from people in the US peaked at almost 14,000 at the same time, which was 9.15pm on America's east coast.
A report on the Downdetector website stated: "Dang... This is a shame. All of the social media is getting screwed over this week, it seems."
A second user wrote: "We doing this again?"
A Twitter user wrote: "I guess Reddit is down now. What a week for outages."
