The South Australian cricket players who allegedly breached COVID-19 dancing rules at an Adelaide bar have received apologies from the police and been cleared of any wrongdoing, according to Redbacks coach Jason Gillespie.
Earlier this month, SA Police confirmed a group of 10 men had been ordered to leave the Cry Baby nightclub after the Redbacks' Sheffield Shield draw with Queensland.
It had been reported that some members of the Redbacks group had been verbally abusive to other patrons, and that they had breached COVID-19 rules by dancing.
But Gillespie says his players have since been cleared of any wrongdoing.
"There's nothing to report. The police actually apologised, it was a non event," Gillespie said.
"All our players are completely exonerated from anything.
"A lot of people in the media were very quick to criticise our players without actually knowing any facts, so that was quite disappointing. So I'm really pleased that nothing has happened.
"We believe and trust our players, and they've been 100 per cent completely exonerated.
"I'm really comfortable with that. I understand the role of the media, but I'm looking forward to hearing from those journalists that went pretty hard at our players."
