Redbacks set massive Shield test for high-flying WA

Sheffield Shield leaders Western Australia have been set a mammoth victory target of 468 after South Australia piled on further runs on day three at Adelaide Oval.

At tea, Western Australia are 0-25 after the home side scored at a quick pace before declaring their second innings at 6-191.

Cameron Bancroft is 17 not out, with fellow opener Sam Whiteman unbeaten on seven.

Former Queenslander Nathan McSweeney led the way hitting 104 not out for his second ton in as many matches for the Redbacks.

Only seamer Matthew Kelly threatened to halt South Australia's charge taking 3-38.

SA resumed at a wobbly 2-31 but McSweeney, with contributions from Henry Hunt (27), Jake Lehmann (18) and Thomas Kelly (18), steadied the ship.

WA went into the match with four wins from six outings, as opposed to South Australia's single victory which was achieved in the most recent round in December.
