Red zone woes continue to plague the Browns offense

The first half of the Cleveland Browns game against the Buffalo Bills showed an improved Browns offensive performance, with one notable exception:

The red zone.

After a successful first red zone drive, where Baker Mayfield hit Jarvis Landry with a perfect strike for a touchdown, the rest of the half was a dismal exercise in abject failure.

Coming off a 1-for-5 red zone performance in Denver a week ago, we thought it couldn’t get worse. We thought wrong.

The Browns next possession came up empty despite eight snaps inside the Buffalo 2-yard line. Nick Chubb got smothered on the final play, a slow-developing pitch to the right.

According to ESPN, it was a historically bad performance:

Cleveland’s offense largely dominated the half, but the red zone woes are a maddening continuation of what has been a disappointing start. The Browns’ 9-7 lead should be at least double what it is.
