Red Star in Tottenham act of defiance as 200 fans ignore Champions League ban

Around 200 Red Star fans have infiltrated the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite a ban on away fans.

The away section for tonight's Champions League group game has been left empty after the Serbian champions were banned from selling tickets to their fans.

Supporters were found guilty of racist chanting , and UEFA's punishment was to ban fans for the big game in London.

While the away section was barren though, a group of around 700 Red Star fans have managed to secure tickets for the home end of the stadium, openly chanting and cheering for the visitors.

The group took over an area at the top of the North Stand of the arena, with a group of stewards eventually sent over to box them in.

UEFA will wait for a report from their delegate before deciding whether to investigate how the security breach occured, with Red Star and Spurs risking charges for the incident.

Tottenham could be hammered for failing to ensure no away fans made it into home sections of the stadium, while their opponents will be held liable for the behaviour of their supporters under UEFA 's strict liability rules.

The chanting of the Red Star fans was clearly audible on television, with Spurs fans on social media complaining that the infiltrators had not been ejected from the stadium.
