BOSTON _ The Rangers are ready to get back home to Globe Life Park. That was evident in the second inning. The Red Sox scored five in the inning thanks to three fielding errors, built a 10-run lead by the fourth, and settled for an 11-6 win Wednesday night at Fenway Park.
Martin Perez lasted just four innings, his shortest outing of the season, as the Red Sox tagged him with 11 runs (seven earned) on nine hits and two walks over four innings. Three fielding errors by Rangers infielders led to four of five runs in the second inning being unearned. But it didn't matter. Boston added two runs in the third and two more in the fourth. Perez earned his first loss since May 18.
Jose Leclerc pitched will in his major league debut. He held Boston scoreless on one hit and a two walks in 22/3 innings. He struck out four. Tony Barnette pitched 11/3 scoreless innings.
Texas scored a run in the second after Adrian Beltre reached on a two-base fielding error by second baseman Dustin Pedroia. He scored on Nomar Mazara's single to left. Jared Hoying, who was called up before the game, entered in the sixth and collected two hits and had an RBI and run scored. Ian Desmond was 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI. Prince Fielder's two-run homer in the sixth pulled the Rangers to within 11-3.
