The Red Sea International Film Festival announced the selection of 12 projects that will participate in its Red Sea Lodge Laboratory program for the current year. Six of the 12 projects are Saudi, while the others hail from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and Lebanon.
Each project will have a team consisting of a director, producer and an author. Women will direct half of the projects and produce three.
The participants will convene four times online for workshops, with hopes of a subsequent in-person meeting for a final pitching event, which will be attended by stellar names in the film industry from across the world, during the next edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival, scheduled to run in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
An independent jury will award two winning projects a grant of $100,000 each, as well as the opportunity to host the film’s premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2022.
The Red Sea Lodge Laboratory’s intensive training program extends over eight months and is organized in cooperation with the TorinoFilmLab. All stages of the production, ranging from marketing to financing, will be focused on during the workshops.
