Red's True Barbecue bought out of administration saving 235 jobs

Red's True Barbecue restaurants in Leeds city centre and Headingley will remain open after being saved by a buyout.

The chain has been bought out of administration by Tokyo Industries, although unfortunately the Liverpool site will close with the loss of 25 jobs.

The Leeds, Headingley, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leicester, and Newcastle sites remain open though saving 235 jobs in total.

Red's True Barbecue was founded in 2012 by James Douglas and Scott Munro, intending to bring authentic American BBQ to the UK.

The restaurant is well known for new twists on American classics, including the famous 'doughnut burger'.

Tokyo Industries founder Aaron Mellor said: "Red's is an incredible brand with strong growth potential, the guys' passion, creative yet rebellious attitude versus near cult status restaurants are a perfect synergy for both parties."
