Red Motorola handset launched to fight Aids

Mobile phone operators and retailers united for the first time yesterday to launch a Motorola handset created to help fight Aids in Africa. The slim red Motoslvr handset is an addition to (Product) Red, a charitable initiative launched by U2 singer Bono, right, with Bobby Shriver, the campaigning Kennedy family member. Red already includes goods by Gap, Converse, Armani and American Express. Every purchase of the £149 phone contributes £10 to the Global Fund and 5% of network tariffs will also go to helping the Aids crisis. Bono said: "This is a real moment for us working on Red."
