Red mist for goalkeeping brothers who are sent off on the SAME DAY

It could well be a tense atmosphere in the Currie household tonight after brothers and lower league goalkeepers Blair and Max saw red today.

In a bizarre set of circumstances, the pair who play for Stranraer and Clyde respectively were sent off in their separate fixtures.

Max Currie's misdemeanor came in the 47th minute when he was given his marching orders following a flare up with an Arbroath player.

Less than an hour later the 22-year-old's big brother Blair followed suit as the Clyde goalkeeper gave away a penalty in the 84th minute against Annan.

While Stranraer's match ended in a stalemate, the foul given away by Blair Currier saw late drama unfold.

It allowed Annan to level proceedings against Clyde, before Martin McNiff secured an injury time winner for Danny Lennon's men.

After the match Lennon confirmed the club's intention to appeal his goalkeeper's red, as he claimed the stopper did "nothing wrong".

He said: "I've watched the red card and it's a big call and one you have to make sure that you get right.

"Blair Currie has done absolutely nothing wrong and the Annan player has a hold of his leg. It's definitely one that we'll be appealing."
