Red Line resumes normal service after smoke reported near North/Clybourn

Red Line trains resumed normal service after the Chicago Transit Authority rerouted trains to elevated lines between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown due to reports of smoke on the tracks near North and Clybourn.

The CTA first announced the disruption at 7:24 a.m. Wednesday. The Chicago Fire Department responded to the subway but could not any smoke or its source, a spokesman for the department said.

Trains resumed normal service by 8:20 a.m., the CTA said.
