Red Hot Chilli Pipers take over Tynecastle to record new album

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers took over Tynecastle Park on Saturday, as they were joined by hundreds of young bagpipers to record a track on their new album.

The famed traditional rockers packed 275 prodigies into Hearts' home ground to record a special rendition of Highland Cathedral for their album Fresh Air.

They launched into a rousing rendition of the Scottish classic, posting pictures and video of the event on Facebook.

And the Chilli Piper leading the mass band even managed to get a sly dig in at the Edinburgh team.

Before striking up, the Aberdeen fan joked: "While I don't think it's a Guinness World Record, it's the most amount of fans that Hearts have had a stadium in a long, long time.

"Despite being an Aberdeen fan, my boys are Hearts fans, so could you put your hands together to Heart of Midlothian for allowing us to use the facility."

The band posted on their Facebook page later: "It’s safe to say the future of bagpipes are in good hands!

"Thank you to all 275 kids and parents for coming to Tyncastle Stadium today and making our final day of recording Fresh Air super special.

"You were all a credit to yourselves and teachers."

The album is due to be released on June 7.
