The Red Hot Chili Peppers have paid tribute to their former guitarist Jack Sherman, who has died.
The musician performed on the American band's self titled debut album, and on the group's first US tour.
He co-wrote songs on the Californian band's second album Freaky Styley but then left the group.
Sherman, 64, later performed with Bob Dylan and George Clinton.
On Twitter, the band said: "We of the RHCP family would like to wish Jack Sherman smooth sailing into the worlds beyond, for he has passed.
"Jack played on our debut album as well as our first tour of the USA. He was a unique dude and we thank him for all times good, bad and in between.
"Peace on the boogie platform."
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 80 million records around the world, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame in 2012.
The band's most recent album, The Getaway, was released in 2016.
Last year, guitarist John Frusciante rejoined the group.
