Red Hot Chili Peppers will hit the road in a big way in 2022 for a North American summer stadium tour. The coast-to-coast trek will celebrate — a year late, because of the coronavirus pandemic — the 30th anniversary of the Los Angeles band’s 1991 album, “Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
The 19-city tour opens with a July 23 date at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High, followed by a July 27 show at San Diego’s Petco Park with Haim and Thundercat as the opening acts. The four-man band will perform two other California concerts: July 29 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and July 31 at So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Ticket information and a list of all the concert dates and cities are included below. The North American leg will be preceded by a European stadium tour that opens June 4 in Seville, Spain, and concludes July 12 in Hamburg, Germany,
The tour, produced by Live Nation, was originally scheduled for 2020. Former Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is back on board as the replacement for Josh Klinghoffer. Frusciante joined the group in 1988 and left in 1991. He rejoined in 1998 for a second stint that lasted until 2009, then rejoined again in early 2020.
Frusciante is one of seven guitarists who have played in the now-38-year-old band, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
The rest of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ lineup has remained unchanged — lead vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith.
Tickets for all the dates on the tour go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. local time Oct. 15, and there will be multiple presales.
A presale for American Express card members will be held from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Oct. 14, while a Live Nation, Ticketmaster, concert venue and local radio station presale will be held runs Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
