A Red Dead Redemption 2 modder has thrown two of the most beloved open-world games of all time into a blender, essentially "remaking" Elden Ring inside Rockstar's wild west opus — to the extent that it's possible to remake such a nuanced world and story in another game, of course.
"An unbelievable amount of work went into putting this mod together," says visionary modder and YouTuber Blurbs, and I believe him. Naturally, you won't find every hidden script of dialogue or mini boss in Blurbs' creation, which isn't available to the public just yet, but you will find Red Dead Redemption 2 characters brandishing huge swords and using Elden Ring-inspired moves like heavy slashes and overhead strikes. That's impressive enough, but Blurbs also managed to custom build spells with unique effects that knock back enemies and inflict them with damage over time, mirroring Elden Ring's Scarlet Rot effect.
There are also some really neat UI flourishes resembling Elden Ring like a health and mana bar, and even the dreaded "you died" screen that appears when you're felled by an enemy. What about summons? You betcha, Blurbs integrated Twitch's text-to-speech functionality so that summon signs and messages are fully voiced by Twitch chat in his playthrough.
The grand finale of the whole thing, naturally, is the final boss. Blurbs built a 1:1 recreation of the cutscene that precedes Elden Ring's final boss battle, and I have that moment in the video queued up for you just above. It's really something to behold.
While some of Blurbs' most popular mods, like the one that turns Red Dead Redemption 2 into a Pokemon RPG, are available through sites like NexusMods, this one isn't right now. Blurbs says he'll "look into" uploading this one for public use, but right now the above video will have to suffice, which, to be fair, is pretty damn cool.
