Red cards and injuries - How Bristol City's loan players fared this weekend

Bristol City's on-loan played endured mixed fortunes this weekend.

From red cards to injuries, there were a number of Robins in action for their loan clubs.

Here is how those Robins out on loan performed.

Jamie Paterson - Derby County

After playing 90 minutes and getting booked in Derby's 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to fierce rivals Nottingham Forest last week, Paterson came off the bench for the final 14 minutes of his side's 3-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday. In Derbyshire Live's player ratings for the game, he was given 5/10 - although with the added caveat that the game was well and truly over by the time he was introduced.

Derby fans on social media seem less than impressed with his performances so far, with one claiming he 'wouldn't watch Jamie Paterson do kick-ups in my back garden.'

Appearances: 5 Goals: 0

Zak Vyner - Aberdeen

Vyner played 90 minutes in Aberdeen's 3-0 win over Ross County, keeping a clean sheet in his second start for the Dons.

Aberdeen have an injury crisis in defence at the moment and, speaking to the Scottish Sun, Vyner said he is versatile enough to fill in different positions should he need to.

He said: "When I came through the academy I was a centre-half but if I’m chucked in at right-back I haven’t got a problem as I’m comfortable in either position. I don’t pigeon-hole myself. In modern football there are players who can play two or three positions and I feel I can do that."

Appearances: 4 Clean sheets: 2

Joe Morrell - Lincoln City

Fresh from angering Everton fans in the Toffees' 4-2 win over Lincoln in the EFL Cup last week, Morrell played the full 90 in the Imps' 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town at the weekend.

The 22-year-old is impressing in Lincoln's midfield and has helped them to a very strong start to the season, with his form also being recognised by a maiden call-up to the Wales senior squad.

Appearances: 8 Goals: 0

Max O'Leary - Shrewsbury Town

O'Leary suffered a disappointing Saturday afternoon as he conceded three times in a 3-0 defeat to Ipswich Town. He was given a 5/10 in the Shropshire Star's player ratings, but could not really be blamed for the goals.

However, he has established himself as the Shrews' first-choice goalkeeper, and has helped them to a healthy 12th place in the table after six games.

Appearances: 6 Clean sheets: 3

Matty Taylor - Oxford United

The striker has not played since limping off against Bristol Rovers on August 24. He faces four to eight weeks on the sidelines with a groin injury.

Appearances: 2 Goals: 0

Jojo Wollacott - Forest Green Rovers

The young goalkeeper had an afternoon to forget on Saturday as he was sent off against Newport County after just 28 minutes. With the score 1-0 and Newport going on to win 2-0, it is fair to say the sending off cost Forest Green. He was also robbed of possession for the opening goal.

However, he put in a positive performance last week, keeping a clean sheet in a goalless EFL Cup game against Premier League Bournemouth, before the South Coast side won 3-0 on penalties.

The 22-year-old is now set to serve a suspension for his red card.

Appearances: 6 Clean sheets: 4

James Morton - Forest Green Rovers

The midfielder started in Forest Green's goalless draw with Bournemouth last week but was not involved against Newport at the weekend, having to make do as an unused substitute.

Appearances: 5 Goals: 0

Robbie Cundy - Exeter City

The Robins' summer signing is yet to feature for his loan club, having made the bench just once - in a 4-1 EFL Cup defeat to Coventry City. However, he is likely to be involved in their EFL Trophy game against Cheltenham Town this week.

Appearances: 0

George Nurse - Newport County

The defender has so far made two appearances for Newport, starting in their EFL Cup win over Gillingham in mid-August, then coming off the bench in the 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on August 24.

South Wales Argus reports the young left-back is currently suffering from an injury.

Appearances: 2 Goals: 0

Cameron Pring - Walsall

Pring started in Walsall's 3-1 defeat to Grimsby Town on Saturday, his first appearance in 11 days. he seems to have impressed Saddlers fans on social media but he is yet to get regular first-team football this season.

Appearances: 5 Goals: 0

Rory Holden - Walsall

The striker also played all 90 minutes in the defeat to Grimsby Town on Saturday but failed to score. The Saddlers' signing of Rory Gaffney will add extra competition for strikers, with Holden having so far made just three appearances.

Appearances: 3 Goals: 0

Freddie Hinds - Colchester United

The forward moved to the Essex club on loan last week but is initially joining up with their under-23s side.

Appearances: 0

Opi Edwards - Torquay United

The winger has sat out the Gulls' last two games with an ankle injury but was in good form prior to that, netting in a 2-0 win over Aldershot on August 24.

He is predicted to be fit for next weekend.

Appearances: 5 Goals: 2

Common Lemonheigh-Evans - Torquay United

The midfielder has featured more regularly for the Gulls than Edwards has, and played the full 90 minutes of their 2-1 defeat to Hartlepool United on Saturday. He won man of the match in their 2-0 win over Aldershot on August 24.

Appearances: 8 Goals: 1
