Recycling centre closes temporarily

West Lothian residents are being advised that one of the area’s recycling centres has closed temporarily.

Blackburn Recycling Centre has shut for two weeks.

The site was closed on Monday and the closure is necessary to allow for a new drainage system to be fitted.

The work to replace the drainage system has been divided into three sections.

The first two were completed before Christmas without impacting on the operation of the site.

However, the remaining section which needs to be replaced is located behind the bays and the site must be closed to allow the work to be completed.

Some of the work is weather dependant, but we aim to have the site reopen on Monday, January 31 at 10am.

A council spokesperson said the authority is sorry for the inconvenience to people wishing to use the centre, but advised them to use other facilities.

They added: “We apologise for the disruption to services and would remind all customers that other recycling centres remain open.”
