Recruitment group Drayton marks 10-year anniversary with plans to open more offices

A Newcastle recruitment group is celebrating its 10th anniversary with plans to open more offices around the UK.

Drayton was founded in November 2010 by Rob Seery and Ian Picket and now boasts a portfolio of well known clients including Amazon, Birds Eye, Helly Hansen, Ginsters, Birkenstock, Greggs, Quorn, and The Lakes Distillery.

The company has continued to grow over the last decade and now also runs a subsidiary business called Alexander Steele, which was set up in Edinburgh in 2018. In total the company now employs 20 people across three offices in London, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

To mark its 10th anniversary the recruitment firm is opening a new office in Manchester, on Charlotte Street, near Piccadilly, in June.

Commenting on the growth of the company, co-founder Rob Seery said: “It’s been a fantastic 10 years and I’m really proud of what the team has achieved. But what is even more special is thinking about what the next 10 years might hold.

“The key to our growth and success over the last decade has been our deep sector expertise combined with providing outstanding service to our clients. The majority of our own team have worked within our specialist sectors and this ensures we speak the same language and truly understand the needs of our clients.

“The last 12 months has been challenging for everyone but I’m incredibly proud of how the team responded and we actually exceeded our original budget by some margin. I am very optimistic about the year ahead and we’re seeing significantly increased demand across all of our markets. Our clients have adapted to the unique challenges of the pandemic and continue to understand the value created by securing top industry talent.”

While most of Drayton's business is based in the UK, a third now comes from overseas. Because of this, the company is now considering opening an office in North America or Europe.

By 2025 Drayton intends to more than double its headcount, from 20 to 50.

Ian Pickett, co-founder, added: “The June opening of the Alexander Steele office in Manchester is representative of our ambition for the business. We are also actively exploring other locations, including the Midlands and the South East. Furthermore, we will continue to invest in our international proposition and are confident this will continue to be very fruitful for the group.”
