Recruitment firm takes over healthcare specialist

Health and social care recruitment firm SCP Aberdeen has been taken over by nationwide operator Search Consultancy .

Staff will move in to the Search Aberdeen office as part of Search Healthcare, which also has teams in Edinburgh and Glasgow sourcing staff for public and private sector providers.

The business has been sold by SCP , which was founded in 2006 in Maidstone and set up its Aberdeen office soon after. The whole business was taken over by UK-wide City and County Healthcare Group in 2015.

Search was founded in Glasgow in 1987 and expanded into England in 2000, growing to a business with 14 offices, a £120 million turnover and more than 700 employees. In 2004 it set up Search Healthcare, which under managing director Lisa McLean provides staffing solutions for nursing, health and social care, and social work.

Search has supplied nursing staff in Scotland since 2017 after being awarded Care Inspectorate registration.

McLean said: “This strategic acquisition is set to significantly enhance our ability to provide healthcare services to the market in Scotland. The people and expertise will be a real asset to our growing division, and I am looking forward to working with those based there. SCP has values aligned to those of Search and we are looking forward to driving our healthcare business forward.

“For existing clients and candidates of SCP, we are looking forward to sharing our group expertise and size to offer an enhanced service, and likewise we look forward to introducing existing Search clients and candidates to this extended offering.”

SCP managing director Caleb Atkins said: “Search is a company with great pedigree in the healthcare market and I am delighted that SCP’s Scottish candidate and client base will benefit from this expert team. Likewise, the larger Search group will benefit greatly from the knowledge and depth of expertise from the existing team who, I am sure, will only enhance the wider service.

“I am grateful for the support of our clients over the years and am delighted that we have been able to leave them in the supremely capable hands of Search Healthcare in Aberdeen.”

In September last year, Search acquired Henderson Scott, a London-based provider of executive search and recruitment technology which operates under its existing name as a subsidiary.
