Recruitment firm SThree names strategy boss

STEM recruitment business SThree has appointed Kate Holden as its first chief strategy and development officer.

The firm last year moved much of its support operation from London to Glasgow, where it has established a centre of excellence and expects to create more than 300 jobs.

Holden joins SThree from the City & Guilds of London Institute, where she was interim chief product, technology and customer experience officer.

She will report to Dundee-born chief executive Mark Dorman, who was appointed in February.

Holden will oversee strategic planning and the delivery of SThree’s group-wide strategy from SThree’s King William Street headquarters in London.

Dorman said: “I am thrilled to welcome Kate to the team as our first ever chief strategy and development officer.

"Kate has an extensive background in strategy and a strong track record of driving business performance.

"Her extensive experience in designing and implementing group wide strategy has delivered growth, increased market share, improved performance and delivered sustainable results across a variety of sectors including technology.

"We look forward to benefiting from her broad expertise as we take the business into its next stage of growth.”

Holden was previously senior vice president and general manager ELT at Pearson plc where she led the division’s transformation from print-based publishing to a digital business.

She has also held senior roles at LexisNexis, a division of RELX PLC, International SOS and the Financial Times.

Holden said: “I am delighted to be joining SThree at this exciting time. SThree is a company uniquely positioned to meet the demand for STEM skills globally.

"The combination of leading brands, a strong focus and purpose to bring skilled people together to build the future, proved a very compelling opportunity for me.

"I look forward to working with a great team to identify new growth opportunities and achieve substantial and sustainable results”.

In April, SThree appointed Matthew Blake as its chief people officer. The company is looking for a new COO after it was announced last month that Justin Hughes is leaving.
