Recruit hopes to offer 'single click' approach to changing jobs

Recruit Holdings Co. President Hisayuki Idekoba said his firm aims to offer job seekers a "single click" approach to changing jobs by accelerating investment in information technology and promoting mergers and acquisitions in the human resources business.

"I want to create a world where people can change jobs in one click, in one second," he said during an online interview with The Yomiuri Shimbun.

"The [COVID-19 crisis] is driving online hiring all over the world," he said. "But it takes months for job-seekers to get a job, and thus we need technology to make this easier."

With the entry of Google and other companies into the human resources business, competition is expected to intensify.

"It will be tough to compete with GAFA [Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon], but Recruit wants to fight in niche areas," he said. The firm plans to provide detailed services, such as analyzing data from a client company's recruitment interviews and providing advice.

Idekoba promoted the purchase of the U.S. job-search engine Indeed in 2012, and led the business. Still based in the United States, Idekoba became the president of Recruit Holdings in April.
