A Glasgow charity is encouraging people to recreate their old holiday photos and help make new memories for some of our city's most vulnerable and excluded families.
The Caravan Project's 'Big Day Out' Programme promises to create a special memory for a child for every £10 raised.
The charity will send tents and outdoor games to families in a bid to ease tensions that have been building over months of lockdown.
Ian Crawford, project manager explained: "By running this campaign, we aim to help families have some fun during Summer 2020, enabling them to make lasting memories and get a break from their often-challenging circumstances.
"This summer tensions and financial pressure will be at their peak. We know how important providing families with respite from these lock down months will be in helping them move forward.
"When you donate to this campaign you will be supporting families who live on a very low income and are facing some really challenging circumstances.
"For some a day out or fun experience is not a luxury; it is an essential break to help them cope with difficult circumstances. We believe a break from their normal lives could address a number of issues that could lead to a breakdown in family relationships."
The Caravan Project’s goal is to ensure that poverty and social isolation aren't barriers to respite and much-needed holidays for families that experience deprivation and a lack of life chances.
And joining the campaign is radio star Gina McKie who was delighted to re create a childhood photo and support the local project.
If you would like to get involved the charity urges you to recreate an old photo and share both across social media with the hashtag #bigdayout and make a donation to their crowdfunder which is aiming to raise £2000 and give 200 Glasgow kids a memory making day this summer.
