LUCKNOW: A CBI unit arrested man from Prayagraj on Friday in connection with recovery of 3,726 gram psychotropic substances case. The accused arrested was identified as Mohit Jaiswal and was produced before court and sent to judicial custody.
CBI will take him in remand soon, said the sources.
CBI sources said that it all started initially when NCB was tipped off about three consignments by interpol drug unit on July 4. Later, three parcels with suspicious consignment were received at the office of foreign post office on Kotla road in Delhi on July 6.
CBI said that the parcels bearing numbers had receiver named as Arjun Gupta of Mumbai, another packet receiver was Anil Kumar of Prayagraj and the third was mentioned with the name of Anil Kumar also of Prayagraj.
CBI checked the consignments in presence of customs department teams and found that the polyethene were marked with alphabets in each from A to E.
“Polythene envelope marked as A was sealed and a pink coloured tablet with RR (symbol of Rolls Royce) was found and peach coloured tablets having the image of Sphinx. All the tablets were mixed homogeneously by hand and it was found that most of the tablets were defaced which might be done since these tablets were pasted on the polythene envelope,” said the CBI.
"Similarly polythene envelope marked with B was de sealed and grey tablets with Audi A5 written, then C was opened with Rolls Royce written, thereafter D was opened in which peach coloured tablets of Sphinx was found and similar in E, in all the three packets" said the CBI. Sources added these drugs were shipped from Poland.
CBI said that based on which three FIRs were registered under NDPS act, first was against Rohit Yadav and unidentified persons, second was against Anil Kumar and unidentified others and the third was against Jennifer and others.
“Based on which searches were conducted and Mohit was arrested and efforts are on to trace others,” said CBI.
