Recovery efforts underway in towns inundated by floodwater across south east NSW

The Eurobodalla Shire Council area was one of the worst-hit during the 2019-2020 bushfires and now it is dealing with the aftermath of its eighth disastrous flood since that Black Summer.

On Friday, floodwaters impacted multiple towns across on the South Coast, including Mogo on the Princes Highway, which was devastated during Black Summer fires.

Eurobodalla Shire Council director of infrastructure Warren Sharp said the clean-ups never seemed to end.

"There have been eight declared natural disaster floods since the bushfires," he said.

The New South Wales government has offered disaster assistance to 10 more local government areas hit by severe storms and flooding since Thursday, including the Eurobodalla.

Mr Sharpe said businesses were impacted in different ways.

"Some of the businesses had concrete falls and brick construction, so it's just a matter of washing [it] down," he said.

Mogo's 'bad luck'

The tiny tourist town Mogo was among the worst-hit towns on Friday.

Owner of Mogo Pies Zoran Pantelic said while the floods would cost his business, many other locals, including his landlord, have suffered worse.

"He's out of pocket $300,000 so there's a lot of other people really too that have been affected," he said.

Mr Pantelic became trapped in his bakery's basement on Friday, which became flooded in minutes.

He said he thought he would not survive.

"At one point it was rising at such a quick level ... where I just thought 'this is it," Mr Pantelic said.

"It was just rising at a rate that was not even imaginable."

Mr Pantelic was trapped in the basement for nearly an hour before being rescued by the SES.

"I was just yelling out for help and I continued to yell out for help because it was the avenue for escape that I had really."

Lake Jindabyne clean-up

Flood clean-up is also underway in the NSW high country.

The NRMA Jindabyne Holiday Park is among the businesses impacted after Lake Jindabyne flooded at the weekend.

Park Manager of the caravan park Kirrily Holz said a number of their sites were inundated.

'We've got about seven sites that are affected by the water," she said.

"That's about half of the unpowered sites.
