Charles Kennedy suffered 'abuse of the worst kind' friends of former Lib Dem leader claim in documentary

Charles Kennedy was the victim of sustained social media abuse "of the worst kind" in the months before he lost his seat at the 2015 general election, friends of the late Scottish politician claimed.

Kennedy - who died aged just 55 due to complications from alcoholism - is the subject of a new documentary from BBC Alba to be broadcast tonight.

The Crown Office has urged the Scottish Parliament to remove a document from its website over fears it could breach a court order from the Alex Salmond trial.

It is understood the prosecution body has requested Holyrood takes immediate action to address its concerns.

Saharan dust warning as red plumes to blow over Scotland amid warm end to February

Dust from the Sahara is set to sweep across Scotland later this week as temperatures soar to double digits following a frozen February, according to forecasters.

Southerly winds will blow across a red plume of warm air from North Africa with temperatures reaching 10C marking an end to a month of snow and rain.
