Record-breaking week continues with 462 new COVID cases in the ACT

The ACT has reported a record 462 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday.

The new cases bring the active total to 1658.

The previous daily record for the ACT was 253 cases announced on Thursday.

No new exposure locations have been released by ACT Health since December 28.

There are six people in hospital because of COVID. None of them are in intensive care, and none are being ventilated.

There were 4211 negative tests received in the 24 hours to 9am on Friday.

Meanwhile, the percentage of the eligible population who are now fully vaccinated is at 98.5 per cent.

NSW has recorded 21,151 COVID-19 cases and six deaths as numbers surge 70 per cent in a single day. The state recorded 12,226 cases the day before.

The new cases were diagnosed from 148,410 tests undertaken in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday.

There are 763 patients in hospital, 69 of them in ICU.

Victoria has recorded another seven deaths from COVID-19 and 5919 new cases,

There are 28,044 active coronavirus cases in the state and 428 patients in hospital. A total of 54 people with the virus are in intensive care, 21 on ventilation.

Meanwhile, Tasmania has recorded 137 new cases, up from 93 the day before.

The majority of active cases, 200, are being managed at home, while there are 86 people in community management clinics. Three hospital patients are being treated specifically for COVID-19 symptoms and one COVID-19 positive case is being treated for an unrelated medical condition.
