Record 949 new cases confirmed in Tokyo

A daily record 949 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Tokyo on Saturday, according to the metropolitan government.

The latest figure surpasses the previous record of 888 cases reported on Thursday.

The number of patients in critical condition was unchanged from Friday, with 81 cases.
