Record 570 cases confirmed in Tokyo

Tokyo confirmed an additional 570 cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday, surpassing the previous record of 539 set on Nov. 21.

The number of patients experiencing severe symptoms increased to 61, one more than the previous day's total. Since the state of emergency ended earlier this year, this marks the fourth consecutive day of record highs for that number.
