Record 1.3m people enter London Marathon 2027 ballot

• A record 1,338,544 people have applied for the 2027 London Marathon public ballot, surpassing last year's record.
• Over one million of these applications originated from the UK, marking another new record for domestic interest.
• The 2026 London Marathon saw a record 59,830 finishers and raised over £87.5 million for charity, making it the world's largest annual one-day fundraising event.
• London Marathon Events chief executive Hugh Brasher stated that the event is the "world’s most sought-after marathon" and aims to inspire people to get active.
• Discussions are underway to potentially extend the 2027 event to two days, including a Saturday, to allow for significantly more participants, with a decision anticipated by the end of May.
